IN BATTLE THERE ARE NO EQUALS! UNMATCHED

Over the weekend we had the opportunity to self-direct learn a game, and with time constraints we chose a game that should take approximately 20 minutes to play. After working with newest ETG Content Curator Mike “Machio” Reynolds we settled on Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf, a skirmish style battle card game unlike the traditional Collectable Card Games dominating the market.

The game play itself is very straight forward. Each player chooses two of three possible actions and each player has a primary character and sidekick that share this action economy. In our learning experience, it does feel that the initial game favors Red Riding hood (maybe I feel that way because Beowulf lost so easily). The back and forth nature that you get between two players is static, but not stale, which I attest to the flavor and general ‘new system’ experience that we were learning at the time.

The build quality of game components was good for what is mass produced game. Obviously you’re not going to get 100% hand painted figures, and titanium plated tokens but what you do get is solidly constructed and doesn’t feel flimsy or cheap.

The game itself is designed for 2 – 4 players, which in a 4 player game you have “team play” rules which didn’t apply to Mike and I, so we didn’t pay too much attention to them.

Overall, for a 20 – 25$ game depending on where you purchase it it’s a solid investment and great fun. With an entire series based in the UNMatched series, you can find many different flavorings that you prefer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
