A few updates

Welcome back to Epic Table Games!  I know that things have been pretty sparse in the ways of updates and new product releases lately and let me tell you why. Technology can be a real pain in the behind. We have two resin printers, and without a shred of humor the LCD screen in our large printer died and had to be replaced at the same time as the gasket in our small resin printer vat needed to be replaced.

But, we were able to solve those two issues and get them taken care of and we’re back to capacity with them.

We also have two FDM printers, where one is a little messed up and we’re not exactly sure what’s going on with it. And the second one had a small learning curve and needed some push connectors replaced. So while we’re not back up to 100% on our FDM printers, we are at least able to print all scenery, tiles, and miniatures for our clients and personal games.

It’s been a tough road though, and while every journey is sure to have its ups and downs this technology is still emerging, developing, and changing faster than most people can keep up with.

Our plan is to continue to offer all of our products however, but the manufacturing process will be slightly different. As we speak we have just finished printing a test structure at what is considered “High Quality” for the printer and PLA plastic. Truthfully it turned out really well, and it took an astonishing 50+ hours to do.  So we’ve tweaked some settings and are currently running a larger printer with what would be considered much less detail. But, we have to learn and know where we need to be to have both a good and speedy completed project.

We are going to continue to offer our premium slate dungeon tiles, as well as our interlocking wooden tiles (which have just recently approved their fourth variation which will be released soon). We were printing our OpenLOCK dungeon tiles with the UV Resin printers, and it was going well but they could be very brittle which isn’t what anyone was happy with. So we’re going to move our dungeon tiles over to the FDM printer, as well as our larger prints.

The resin printers will be for printing miniatures, busts, and some other neat Table Top RPG doodads as we move forward.

There are other things in the pipeline as well. If you’ve been able to catch our podcast (The Epic Table Audio show) on most of your preferred podcast streaming services, you know that our Founder and Epic Mastermind Rob loves the old school, Classic TSR Marvel Super Heroes FASERIP system. We found out through some research that the system itself falls into an Open Gaming License, and our plan is to release a full game within the next year on the rusty old bones of the system.

We are also working on producing dice, which is a little more manual labor intensive than we initially thought, as well as developing Dungeon Master tools to help plan their games and keep them organized. It’s all been a fun journey that we’re navigating very slowly, and that in itself is a bit more frustrating than it should be, because we want to blow the world out of the water with what we’re doing. Unfortunately, it’s taking time but perfection takes time too, right?

Stay tuned for future updates now that we’re over the hump of some of our technical issues, and keep following us along on Facebook either by liking our page or joining our group. You can also head over to the Epic Table Games community as it’s still growing, and try to build out a play by post game!
